What would it be like to understand your PRE’s exquisite sensitivity, from the inside out?
PRE Nutrition Study
Does this sound like your horse?
Nervous
Anxious
Sensitive - to the point of almost being too sensitive
Unsettled - even after being at a new place for a while
Spooky
Uncoordinated
Poor proprioception
Canter challenging - doesn’t take leads or swaps, constantly cross canters or counter-canters
Gawks at shadows - or bright spots on the ground
“Never let my kids around him/her, much less alone with the horse”
Then you’ve come to the right place.
I can’t tell you how often I talk to PRE owners who describe their horses to me in these words.
You’re enchanted by your horses' beautiful looks and kind nature but hot damn, some days you feel like you got more than you bargained for. Your horse can be that sensitive.
Sometimes, your horse is the chillest, coolest horse on the planet. Absolute unicorn material! Other times - the level of sensitivity leaves you wondering if you are cut out to have a horse this sensitive.
You’re drained, unsure, and wondering if you should head back to the warmbloods.
Mostly, you just want your horse to have a good life, to feel secure in their own body, and to be reliable.

Hi, I’m Meredith Crawford. I’m a FEI dressage trainer with a barn full of Iberian horses. As I imported them over the years, I started noticing certain characteristics the ones from Spain had vs the ones born in other areas. One question led to another, and I started digging into nutrition and each horse's unique nutrient profile. As I did so, I began to notice correlations between the horse’s behavior in the barn and success in the arena, where they were originally from in Spain, genetics and each horse’s unique nutrient profile.
In an effort to study these correlations further, I’m teaming up with data analysts, laboratories, veterinarians and other imported PRE trainers to better understand the intersection of performance, quality of life in the US, place of origin, genetics and nutrition.
However, I’m looking for imported PREs from around different parts of Spain - and residing in other parts of the US - to help my team better understand these correlations.
If you’ve ever been curious about horse hair analysis but haven’t had the finances to do so, wondered if there was more to your PRE’s sensitivity and spookiness, or have simply been looking for a way to get to know your horse on a deeper level, applying to participate in this study may be for you.
Participating in this study is FREE and simply requires taking a couple of samples of your horse’s hair and mailing them back.
In return for your horse’s participation, you’ll receive:
Scientific analysis of your horse’s nutritional state (worth $170)
Recommendations for improving your specific horse’s nutrition (worth $175)
Insights into how nutrition affects performance - and tips on improving your rides both in and out of the arena (regardless of what discipline you ride) (worth $100)
